UPDATE (10/03/2018): James is now 20+ days out from his open heart surgery and recovering nicely. Recovery is slow but steady and he's now able to play fiddle for a bit each day . . . getting back some of his strength. James wishes to thank all of you for your support, well wishes and prayers. He's sure looking forward to rejoining 'Songs from the Road Band' as soon as possible. ________________________________________
ZETA friends and family . . . Our very close friend and ZETA Artist James Schlender is in Cardiac ICU at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC with a serious infection in his heart valve. The valve is leaking severely due to the infection. Currently, open heart surgery is planned for Monday, to replace the worn out valve. Our thoughts and prayers are with James and his family as he prepares for this very serious surgery.
As you know, James' playing has been featured in many many many of our promotional ZETA videos. Most recently he has been touring with 'Songs from the Road Band' out of Asheville. His band-mates have set up a medical fund to help defray the rising medical expenses.
James . . . much love buddy . . . all our prayers from Maxine and I and all your ZETA family and friends. Thinking, believing and praying you and your family through this.
ZETA family . . . please join us in our prayers for safe keeping and for James' full recovery . . . and consider helping as you feel led. ... See MoreSee Less

ZETA is heading out to see Jean-Luc Ponty at Chene Park, Detroit, MI. So looking forward to the show . . . and a chance to catch up with Jean Luc again. It's been 3 years since 'Talking Sticks' AZ, and a year+ since 'Boulder Theater' CO . . . can't wait. Jean Luc with this band (his band) is an epic experience.
As if that isn't enough . . . we also get to see ZETA Artist Evan Garr, who's performing an opening set . . . and also playing with Jean Luc in the concert finale. ZETA's MIDI 5-String Jazz Mando has left the building. Greg Floor picked up his custom Roasted Birdseye Double Lam this week. 1st pic below is Greg's 1st person view when he opened the case last Thursday . . . and it was all smiles. We spent hours playing with & dialing in his GR-55 and then it was back to Utah. Greg later reported: "I opened the case on Friday and turned on the GR-55 . . . next thing I knew it was 4 hours later!" Greg also picked up ZETA's 1st retrofit Mando bridge. I installed it on his Gibson 'Sam Bush' model. I've spent the last two years developing this bridge and let me tell you . . . there is no boom box effect (problem with all other mando pickups) . . . the bridge action adjusts up and down easily while under tension . . . and best of all . . . the amplified tone of the mandolin directly corresponds to its acoustic tone. I told Greg it just didn't seem right him getting both these great instruments at the same time . . . but he insisted he could handle it. It was a busy and rewarding week here at ZETA. ... Happy Mother's Day!
Just recently on the Montana PBS show '11th & Grant' our ZETA C_Octave (Strados) was featured played by local fiddler Chelsea Hunt. The show, featuring songwriter Jim Averitt, aired 2 of the 'Cello' pieces but did not air my favorite . . . 'Mother'. So here is the live feed broadcast for all to enjoy on this special day. I love the warmth of our chin-cello as it reminds me of the many warm and comforting memories of my own mother.

Tim loved the Roasted Jazz Fusion so much he ordered one and here we are 2 years later. The 'Gypsy Fiddler' inlay idea and drawing came courtesy of his then 12 year old daughter. Thank you Lucy for your inspirational work! We love projects like this.
